New technologies

One of the bases on which the development of the knowledge economy and society is sustained is the development of new information and communication technologies (ICT). Their rapidly falling prices and strong expansion have been one of the driving forces leading to the emergence of modern knowledge societies.

This part of the system of indicators includes information relating to the incorporation of these technologies into the economy and society. It is divided into four groups: ICT industry (producer), ICT endowments (infrastructures), accessibility to ICT equipment, and use of ICT.
